There is little doubt in my mind. Hence, that the tyre buying public are becoming much more aware. Thus, of the safety qualities that winter tyres bring. Of course in winter time. Winter tyres are to me the complete article. However, many of our customers, go for the All-weather tyres.

The general Altimax, falls into this category of tyre. Therefore, I genuinely believe that this is still a better option than the regular summer tyres. The All-weather tyres certainly give the driver more protection and safer motoring in a climate such as we have in the UK.

My advice would be to buy All-weather tyres, for all year round motoring. Of course, many of our tyre manufacturers make these excellent tyre products. In my opinion general are one of the best. The Altimax tyres are also classed in the mid-range tyre bracket.

Therefore, this means that the tyres will be cheaper than the main brands, but retain good quality. For this reason, we all know that drivers are the first people to try for a bargain and the General Altimax will be no exception.

If you only want to choose one type of car tyre you are better off sticking to summer tyres. We do recommend changing to winter tyres when the temperature starts falling.
The main reason for this is that in other European countries, it is a legal requirement to change to winter, or cold weather tyres, for the winter season. Winter tyres are the one type of seasonal tyre that is easy to understand! All season tyres are actually a compromise between winter and summer tyres. If you only want to choose one type of car tyre you are better off sticking to summer tyres.

All season tyres are actually a compromise between winter and summer tyres. As with most compromises, they don’t match up to the performance of either summer or winter tyres. There are a few countries where motorists are permitted to have all season tyres fitted on their vehicles all year instead of having to change them twice a year.

In the UK, most cars on the road are fitted with ‘summer tyres’ all year. The main reason for this is that in other European countries, it is a legal requirement to change to winter, or cold weather tyres, for the winter season.

Winter tyres are the one type of seasonal tyre that is easy to understand! Even in the United Kingdom, the average temperature for most parts of the country will be low enough to warrant changing to winter tyres. As a nation, we do seem to be opening our minds to winter tyres, and realising that they are a good investment.

We should all be having “fun in the snow”. I certainly did, when I was a kid. Therefore, they should be no reason why we would not do the same as adults.

I know what is not fun? thats driving in snow. Especially in a car fitted on summer tyres. Driving in snow with summer tyres is a miserable experience. We have all done this in the past. Hence, there were times when millions of us just could not get to work. As expected in snowy weather.

In my opinion, this should not happen in modern times. Winter tyres, are not an expensive item any more. The tyre trade has been trying to explain to the motorists about the safety features of fitting winter tyres. Thus , onto their cars, before the bad weather arrives.

I can see a big improvement in way that the public do respond by fitting winter tyres. Of course, word of mouth has been a factor of this. Including social media sites. There is no doubt that winter tyres are a major safety feature for the six months of winter. Trying to get out of the snow, very nice winter/snow tyres. In an audi A4. General Tyre Altimax Arctic-A great tyre part of the excellent Continental Tyre family.

The General Altimax Arctic has many attributes. Therefore the tyre exhibits excellent traction in the wet. Including, snowy and dry driving conditions. Naturally, the Altimax is most suitable for urban drivers. Including the drivers of Sedans, CUVs and SUVs.

The tyre test was carried out,100 km from the Arctic Circle. Hence at a world-class testing facility in Sweden. Therefore  the performance would replicate the conditions found during winter time. Of course in Northern Europe and Canada.

The most outstanding feature was the tyre scored an incredible 100 in wet traction. Naturally, the  General Altimax Artic is designed with a directional tread pattern. Of course, which amplifies water evacuation. This design helps the tyre to resist hydroplaning and naturally, increase wet handling.

Another advantage of the tyre is a design feature of  a multi-angle sipes systems. Thus ,to enhance the traction in high-angled turns and straight-ahead driving in snowy conditions. A great benefit for winter tyres. Thus earning a score of 97.7 in snow traction.

With the ability to drive comfortably in rain and snow, drivers can drive worry free with the General Altimax Arctic. A great tyre product from the Continental tyres stable .

Early November saw the first snow to fall here in Halifax, Northern England. Winter tyres were the order of the day?

I am not complaining, but we were very busy fitting snow tyres. One of our long standing customers. hence bought a new set of  185R60T15 General Altimax Arctic Tyres for a total of  £284, installed and out the door. The customer took our word for the quality and endurance of these winter tyres.

The driver who made this video, went a step further, “Since it seemed hard to find reviews of these online, I thought I’d whip up a short video”. The guy came up with the following facts

General Altimax Arctic some facts

1. These are great on dry roads. Hence, I have been driving them on dry pavements for the last couple of weeks. Consequently, they’re almost unnoticeable. Contrast that to the Winterforce. So, where they would throw you from side to side for the first 1k to 1.5k miles (need to really wear them in).
2. Wet pavement: handle beautifully. Perfect traction during the two rain storms we had previously.
3. Sloppy wintery mix: Unreal. Just watch the video above. The deep tread throws the slush off the wheels so you don’t even notice it. Earlier, on this day, I was driving my all season tires on a different car and the slush would throw the car from side to side and create that nasty sound hitting the wheel-wells.
4. Grip: Perfect. Last year this Camry had pretty bad tires, so I’ve always viewed it as a death trap, in any type of winter weather. This test proved the complete opposite! Now the thing feels like it has 4-wheel drive. The grip really is nice. Early this evening I was driving my Honda Accord with all-season and was slipping and sliding on the side roads. The winter tires on the Camry? Nothing. Felt great.

I’ll post more reviews as we roll into the season and we get deeper snow. I’ll try to make them a little more exciting too:).

Thanks for watching! Any questions, let me know.

I must confess, that the general Altimax winter tyres, was a new concept to me. hence, it is a tyre brand that I am just getting to grips with?

Here at Pellon Tyres in Halifax, UK, we became General tyre retailers earlier in 2016. For this reason, I became disenfranchised with some of the other tyre companies.

If we are promote and sell a product, then we require a little loyalty. In my 40 years in the tyre business I have been let down by many tyre companies. They seem to accept that when you build their product base in a certain area. They then flood their tyres into your area. Thus breaking their promises.

The latest tyre company to do this was Yokohama tyres. We became dealers in the Halifax area. Accordingly, we sold thousands of their tyre products, including winter tyres. The next thing we knew. Yokohama were selling their tyres online at a highly discounted price.

We were not worried, because we also offer tyres online and could easily compete with the prices. However, it was the fact that a promise was broken that annoyed me. This brings me onto General tyres.

I was looking for another product to replace Yokohama. As a result we were approached by General tyres.

General  are Owned by Continental tyres and are therefore well respected, designed and manufactured, including the General Altimax Arctic.

Having some fun in my ’07 Civic LX riding on General Altimax Arctic snow tires. Awesome tyres, awesome price.
Let it snow!
