Electric cars

All-electric cars powered by coal electricity are potentially less Eco-friendly than their gas-powered counterparts.

This is something that many of have been saying all along? Electric cars are not green because they charge up on coal fired power stations?

Dirty Power Stations are Powering our so called “Green” Electric cars.

This is not a new idea; in fact it is one of those stories that will not go away . Because of the politicians who have set the world racing. Hence, to beat their self-set climate emissions controls targets. In my opinion what they really want is alternative energies. Other than the costly price of oil. To replace gas driven cars with electric cars.
All the leading national governments. Began to throw huge amounts of money into their universities. Thus, to help discover alternative fuels. For the reason, that are greener and more sustainable than oil. I must admit that I am impressed with the new research and development. Hence, that has come along in the past ten years. But at what cost. After all wasn’t the world supposed to be in a huge recession?

In my own field of business. Then there have been massive developments. Consequently, in battery technology. So, and even the tyre companies are making an effort to produce more fuel efficient tyres. Of course, that enable vehicles to reduce their emissions. Thus, by fitting these tyres to their products.
However, I cannot get it out of my head. Incredibly, that these electric cars that are now being produced.

Therefore, are being charged up by electricity that is produced by “dirty” electricity.
Dirty electricity. Means that the power companies are using fossil fuels. Such as “coal” and “gas” .Hence, to produce the electricity that will eventually charge up these electric cars. I think that we are all been hoodwinked. By our governments into pretending that they are going to save the world. By make it a much greener place, or even a totally greener place? But I may be pessimistic but I don’t think it will ever happen.
Coal is still a cheap form of energy. Although the UK says that we are going to use more nuclear power. We are talking years ahead. Anyway nuclear power surely cannot be classed as “green fuel”.Look what recently happened in Japan. A horrific accident, on one of their nuclear power stations.

The next problem to come along will be the problem of regulating the power companies and controlling the ever increasing growth of home solar panel units and the ability of the public to be able to control their use. At the moment we are restricted to the number of panels we can fit onto each household roof, but in my opinion we should be able to fit as many as we like and produce as much clean solar energy as we can, but sadly NO, we are restricted from pressure by the utility companies and can only produce so much power to go back into the national grid.

I feel that I am drifting a little now, but I cannot see how issue of dirty electric can be cleaned up, and one other thing? the price of oil is now tumbling on the world’s oil markets and I wonder what effects this will have on the price of developing alternative energies?

Cheap Gas (petrol) Helps Pull the Plug on Electric Cars – TIME

Sales of the Nissan Leaf and other electric cars have dipped thus far in 2015, and automakers have resorted to price cuts to boost interest in plug-ins.

I did not think for one minute that the sales of electric cars would hold  up went he petrol prices came down. Cheap gas is to blame.

Motorists think with their pockets?

If there is any way the motoring public. Hence, can save money on their motoring costs then they will. Accordingly, you have only to look at the large volume of part worn tyres. So, that are sold today to see that. For this reason, drivers will always try to save money. Wherever possible. In fact, they will travel miles to save a few pence per gallon.

I remember when we had previous fuel shortages, the Suez crisis, sticks in my mind. There was all sorts of talk from governments about the environment and how that horrible oil could be replaced, by a greener alternative. What happened?

As soon as it was all over and the price of fuel dropped we all went back to our old habits and the green thing was forgotten about.

I suspect that something like this will happen again with perhaps a few technologies sticking with us. I like the idea of the hydrogen fuel cars and the EV’s with a battery and a petrol engine to carry out the journey when the battery power ran out.

With the fuel price dropping again the fickle public are reverting back to the cheapest cars, using the cheapest fuels and are not really concerned about the environment. The governments have warned us about the environment, but i do not think that we trust them any more.

All drivers have been penalised in the past years. Especially, with high fuel prices. Cheap gas (petrol) has now returned and is a bonus to us all. Many car owners think very short term when choosing to buy a new car. My belief is that car owners are starting to shun the more expensive electric cars. Because the  cheap gas is the main reason. The problem is that it only takes a world incident to force the prices up again, but many people only think about today. it is going to be a problem for the car makers to solve this problem, unless they bring down the price of the EV’s and other technology driven cars.
