Yokohama VW Scirocco Tyres

Of course, Yokohama Tyres are on their way to become a top ten contender in the world tyre companies. Must be remembered that Yokohama are a Japanese tyre company. So, with great ambitions to be one of the globes best tyre companies.

Not only do they sell a good product but, they have also developed a green environmental tyre, called the “BLUE EARTH’.

The guy who tweeted is certainly happy with his new tyres, fitted to his VW Scirocco, and like thousands of our customers here in Halifax,Yorkshire,UK he will get years of great service from his new Yokohama VW Scirocco tyres.

As many of my readers will know. This Japanese tyre company. Are also very well known for their involvement in manufacturing and supplying tyres for motorsport. This involvement helps in research and development. Designing new tyres for the regular passenger car market.

Pellon tyres in Yorkshire UK, became a Yokohama tyre dealer

So, we have  had nothing else but praise for  this  excellent tyre product. Point-S are our main suppliers now in 2018. So we buy direct with  Point-S rebate.

It came  as no surprise to me when the Twitter guy Adam Beeston, thought it necessary to tweet about the  VW Scirocco tyres. These tyres have always appealed to the younger sportier type of driver.

Yokohama have had many years of motorsport experience. Research and development that has emanated from their tyre products . So, has been passed onto the passenger car tyre market. Making a tyre that has compounds to ensure that the tyre sticks to the road.

Yokohama are also renowned for their expertise in creating a greener tyre. This is known as the “Blue Earth tyre” and is now becoming one of their best sellers.

Other brands we recommend are General tyres and Continental tyres.

General Grabber AT-Testing-With Freelander 2

Testing my new General Grabber AT 255/60/18 on the Land Rover Freelander 2 It`s not the real off road thing,, but I was alone on a sunday afternoon in my .

I have always been a fan of the General Grabber AT tyre. I know that they are good. Because they are popular in my area Halifax in Yorkshire UK.

The area is very hilly. We have many farms in the area. Therefore, we often get severe and snowy winters. The farming community is loyal to the Land Rover. Hence, as a vehicle of preference. So we sell many tyres for these types of vehicles.General Grabber AT

This General Grabber AT testing video is exactly how I would imagine.

For this reason, for the tyre to perform in any condition.Naturally, that is thrown at it. As I said, earlier. Farmers and other country dwellers swear by these tyres. General are now part of the large Continental tyres group.

Another market niche that the General Grabber At has entered is the SUV market. The massive increase in this type of vehicle has definitely increased the popularity of these type of tyres. The SUV ‘s are also driven by lady customers, who put their families first and will pay extra for a tyre that also gives them grip in the winter time.

General Grabber AT

The General Grabber AT fits well into this category, and the tyre has become very popular here in the Halifax area of Yorkshire, where the terrain is very hilly with many small isolated roads. The female drivers want a tyre that will enable them to get the kids to school safely and not get stuck in ice and snow.

The summer tyres that are fitted to the SUV’s are useless in winter weather, and the General Grabber AT tyres will do the trick. One of the disadvantages of fitting tyres with extra grip was the road noise. The General Grabber AT tyres have been modified to run much quieter in normal road conditions and have now become a great all round tyre to fit on your SUV or 4×4.

General Grabber tyres feature Duragen- Tyre Manufacturers Use Many Materials including Duragen

Tyre choice is very important to off road performance. Even the most capable 4WD platform can run into problems. Especially, off road when fitted with street oriented tyres. As is the case with nearly all new 4×4 vehicles. But by the same token, dedicated off road tyres will have less traction . Especially, on wet tarmac and be considerably noisier than road tyres; there is always a compromise.

Familiarity with the features and controls of a new 4WD vehicle is key . Hence, to getting the best of it when venturing off road. As a result, plenty of drivers have come unstuck looking at the 4×4 logo on their new car and thinking they can drive it anywhere.

In particular pay attention to how the 4WD system operates. If it requires any driver input. Thus, such as selecting 2WD or 4WD, changing between low or high ratio. Including, manual differential locking or whether the front hubs are freewheeling type where the hub must be locked by hand.

Wheel size too is a factor; large diameter rims with low profile tyres look good in the city but have very little off road capability, and off road tires may not be available to fit them. When possible, fitting mud-terrain (MT) or all-terrain (AT) tyres will dramatically increase the off road car ability of any new 4WD vehicle and will provide the most flexibility.

By checking the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended range of tyre sizes and choosing an off road tyre as tall and as wide as possible, not only will traction be improved, but the taller tyres will also increase the ground clearance.

One thing  about General Tyres. Hence, is that they are constantly looking out for quality materials. Thus, to enhance the performance of their tyre products. Of course, General makes a broad range of tyres. Accordingly, to fit many models of ultra-high performance, passenger, light truck, off-road, and commercial tyres.

General tyres, now under the large Continental tyre group. Therefore, as part of this giant organisation. Naturally, General Tyres have access to all of the scientific and engineering facilities. Thus, belonging to the Continental Tyre  Group.

One of the latest technology materials to be used is the  state-of-the-art technologies such as Duragen, 3D Sipe, V.A.I Visual Alignment Indicator. – (a feature of tread design, that allows for you to monitor even initial tyre wear shoulder to shoulder) and RTM (Replacement Tyre Monitor – a feature of tread design, that allows for you to control overall tyre wear).

General Grabber tyres feature Duragen

Duragen is used to build up the tyre tread layer. Accordingly, General sate that “robust compound gives excellent cut and chip resistance” and its “reinforced tread blocks reduce block deformation”.

This innovation of design gives the tyre excellent properties.

That  improve the life of the tread. When the tyre is subjected to harsh conditions. Therefore, that are experienced when using your vehicle in a tough terrain situation.General Grabber tyres feature Duragen

The Duragen features also include an ultra-high strength steel belt. As expected, this gives the tyres an even footprint. So giving the vehicle driver confident stability. As expected on rocky or other tough terrains.

Honda Civic Winter Tyres-Having fun in snow on General Altimax Arctic winter tyres

Honda Civic Winter Tyres

Honda Civic Winter Tyres

I must confess, that the general Altimax winter tyres, was a new concept to me. hence, it is a tyre brand that I am just getting to grips with?

Here at Pellon Tyres in Halifax, UK, we became General tyre retailers earlier in 2016. For this reason, I became disenfranchised with some of the other tyre companies.

If we are promote and sell a product, then we require a little loyalty. In my 40 years in the tyre business I have been let down by many tyre companies. They seem to accept that when you build their product base in a certain area. They then flood their tyres into your area. Thus breaking their promises.

The latest tyre company to do this was Yokohama tyres. We became dealers in the Halifax area. Accordingly, we sold thousands of their tyre products, including winter tyres. The next thing we knew. Yokohama were selling their tyres online at a highly discounted price.

We were not worried, because we also offer tyres online and could easily compete with the prices. However, it was the fact that a promise was broken that annoyed me. This brings me onto General tyres.

I was looking for another product to replace Yokohama. As a result we were approached by General tyres.

General  are Owned by Continental tyres and are therefore well respected, designed and manufactured, including the General Altimax Arctic.

Having some fun in my ’07 Civic LX riding on General Altimax Arctic snow tires. Awesome tyres, awesome price.
Let it snow!

General Altimax Winter Tyres-A Preview of The AltiMAX Touring All-Season Tyre

General Altimax Winter Tyres

General Altimax Winter Tyres

There is little doubt in my mind. Hence, that the tyre buying public are becoming much more aware. Thus, of the safety qualities that winter tyres bring. Of course in winter time. Winter tyres are to me the complete article. However, many of our customers, go for the All-weather tyres.

The general Altimax, falls into this category of tyre. Therefore, I genuinely believe that this is still a better option than the regular summer tyres. The All-weather tyres certainly give the driver more protection and safer motoring in a climate such as we have in the UK.

General Altimax Winter Tyres

My advice would be to buy All-weather tyres, for all year round motoring. Of course, many of our tyre manufacturers make these excellent tyre products. In my opinion general are one of the best. The Altimax tyres are also classed in the mid-range tyre bracket.

Therefore, this means that the tyres will be cheaper than the main brands, but retain good quality. For this reason, we all know that drivers are the first people to try for a bargain and the General Altimax will be no exception.

General Altimax Winter Tyres

If you only want to choose one type of car tyre you are better off sticking to summer tyres. We do recommend changing to winter tyres when the temperature starts falling.
The main reason for this is that in other European countries, it is a legal requirement to change to winter, or cold weather tyres, for the winter season. Winter tyres are the one type of seasonal tyre that is easy to understand! All season tyres are actually a compromise between winter and summer tyres. If you only want to choose one type of car tyre you are better off sticking to summer tyres.

All season tyres are actually a compromise between winter and summer tyres. As with most compromises, they don’t match up to the performance of either summer or winter tyres. There are a few countries where motorists are permitted to have all season tyres fitted on their vehicles all year instead of having to change them twice a year.

In the UK, most cars on the road are fitted with ‘summer tyres’ all year. The main reason for this is that in other European countries, it is a legal requirement to change to winter, or cold weather tyres, for the winter season.

Winter tyres are the one type of seasonal tyre that is easy to understand! Even in the United Kingdom, the average temperature for most parts of the country will be low enough to warrant changing to winter tyres. As a nation, we do seem to be opening our minds to winter tyres, and realising that they are a good investment.
