The Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 275/30 R19 96Y- is a tyre well worth considering, when your next tyre purchase is imminent.?

This tyre has been specially developed to perform to its maximum ability. Also, good handling in dry weather conditions. It has also been designed for high speed usage. Thus, for the larger sedan models and SUV’s, such as the BMW’s and Mercedes.

Because of this the tyre is designed to cope with very high speed stability.hence,  you won’t feel road vibrations. Including less variants on different road surfaces. Hence, such as from tarmac to concrete. Because of the high speed capabilities the tyre s come in “Y” rated speed markings.

Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 275/30 R19 96Y

Kumho tyre also take part in many motorsport events. Of course, including the Auto GP, Formula 3 series of racing. Of course, using their  ECSTA V70A track tyre. Therefor they have been giving excellent results for the racing teams. Kumho are also experienced in the rally scene. because they are using the ECSTA C03 tyres. That has been developed to meet the demands of rally gravel & Tarmac event surfaces.

The data and performance of these motorsport tyres are combined to improve the results when testing and developing new products for use by the general public, such as the Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31

Some of my customers have given excellent reviews and others not so good but in general the drivers who fitted them had good things to say about them. One guy told me he fitted these tyres onto his VW Passat and “after a 5 month period he thought the tyres where awesome, giving him good grip in most summer conditions”

MotorSport Tyres-Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 275/30 R19 96Y

Another guy, a Saab owner said” I’m not recognizing some of the comments on here reference these tyres. I’ve had mine on my SAAB 9-3 for about 50,000 miles so I would say that the wear is great. My journey is mostly Motorway so that may account for that. Grip and noise again, are great”.

A Jaguar said that these were the best tyres yet that he had fitted onto his “S” Type, but I suspect that he only drove the car in summer. He said that in his opinion” the Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 gave as good a performance as the standard Pirelli p zero Rosso and they were more comfortable and quiet. After 5000 miles I have no signs of wear. Grip and handling in dry and wet is epic. A brilliant tyre; with an even, better price.

The price of course is an important issue? Because Kumho tyres are considered as amid range tyre, then the consumer can save money by buying the Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31 tyres instead of the more expensive leading makes. As the guy in his Jaguar did, he was amazed at the quality and finish of these tyres. So to summarise they are well worth a try and in my opinion all the mid-range tyre companies are catching up to the big boys, making interesting times for us tyre retailers.

Kumho Ecsta high Ultra High Performance tyres

My tyre business has been selling tyres made by Kumho for the past 10 years and I have been amazed at the amount of return business that we have getting from my customers. Like most tyre brands we start to sell them because of a great deal that we get from the tyre companies, in order to promote and sell the tyre products. If the tyre company is upbeat about its products, then it is a good way to build a following for the tyre in your area.
This is usually in the area of the mid-range tyre manufacturers, companies other than Kumho Ecsta such as Toyo, Yokohama and Hankook to name a few are always trying to court independent tyre retailers, similar to my business. This is because they know that we have the expertise and give the service, that our customers expect and therefore can usually sell what brands we want and so this of great interest to these tyre companies.
In the past we have been dealers for many tyre companies and we are a wanted species, mainly, because we have a large customer base and are trusted by the public to give them good service and a good deal. Kumho Ecsta tyres are no exception, and we have had a good relationship with the South Korean tyre company.
I also believe that kumho are a great tyre product and have visited race tracks to watch the Kumho tyres perform in a racing scenario. The last race was for the BMW touring car championships, which was run and won on Kumho Ecsta tyres.
This always proves to me that the tyre manufacturers are confident about their products and are willing to show them off in a car motor sporting situation, Yokohama tyres from Japan and Hankook tyres all take part in such racing events and the data and experience is used to build a better tyre for the consumer.
The new Kumho Ecsta is classed as a UHP (Ultra high performance tyre) and is one of the many tyre products that embrace silica, as part of the tyres compound mix, helping to give the tyre an excellent performance both in wet and dry conditions, this even applies when the tyre is Half worn, the same grip still holds the road.
This tyre has also been developed with comfort in mind as well as safety for the family car, and as such is a good choice for the family SUV type vehicle, altogether a great new tyre from Kumho.
Pellon Tyre and Auto-centre offer car and van servicing and repairs to all makes of vehicles. We are members of Unipart Car Care centres and give a nationwide guarantee for all our work and parts. We also sell Kumho Ecsta Tyres online from our website www.pellontyres.co.uk by using the tyre selector and choosing your tyre size. We offer courtesy cars to local motorists who need to go to work and leave their car with us for work doing. We are also an official MOT testing station and are members of Motor-codes, who carry out checks for high standard of equipment and workmanship.

Kumho Tyres-Car TyresBMW touring car series, using Kumho tyres at Croft race track.

Kumho Tyres-Car Tyres- are one of the main mid-range tyre brands . For this reason, we have sold here in Halifax UK, for more than six years now.
One of the ways that Kumho tyres have promoted themselves. To one of the top positions in the world.Because of this, through their involvement in motorsport.

They are one of the up and coming suppliers of tyres to the motor racing world. Therefore, have made tremendous progress over the past fifteen years. As expected, including race and rally tyre products.
Most Kumho tyres are made at their flagship factory in Gwangju, South Korea, and this is where they have developed and tested their highly praised formula 3 (F3) tyres. This plant is very high tech and hygienic, to make this type of tyre, without dust particles and in a spotless atmosphere which is now one of the criteria for making the best tyre products, they are far from the dirty old tyre factories of old.

Kumho Tyres-Car Tyres

Kumho tyres are now operating the European motorsport part of the company from just outside Birmingham, and it is here that they supply tyres for the F3n race series as well as other circuit racing and rally and rallycross tyres.

Other up and coming news.Of course, is the announcement that Kumho tyres will be the sole supplier of tyres. Therefore, for the fastest Mini to be made so far the limited edition John Cooper Works GP car.

The Korean tyre company has also had some success. Especially, in the original equipment supplying side of the business. Kumho, have been approved as a supplier to some of the BMW Series 3 range of cars. For this reason, which is produced in the BMW Munich factory, this is a great coop for Kumho and will mean more sales as the Kumho tyres are replaced when the cars become second and third hand.
These BMW’s will be kitted out with 225/55R16 Ecsta HM Kh31 tyres, which have been developed with the luxury car market in mind. The tyre includes new HP tread technology which will give the BMW’s better responsive handling and steering stability especially in different weather conditions and also better-wet weather traction.

SEALANT TYRES From Kumho Tyres at Frankfurt Motor Show Exhibition

Kumho Tyres will be revealing some future tyre technology including SEALANT TYRES at this weeks Iaa Frankfurt International Motor Show… http://t.co/hvzQUXeZRm

There is no saying what the large tyre companies will be coming out with next? SEALANT TYRES

Another exciting thing to come out of the tyre scene recently is the research and development pact that Kumho and Yokohama tyres have just announced.

These are exciting days in the tyre trade, with all sorts of

 sealant tyres
Sealant tyres will not prevent tyre damage like this?

announcements coming out on a daily basis.

Sealant tyres are nothing new? several of Kumho tyres competitors have marketed a similar product, in the past two years.

This works, when an object penetrates the tyre (such as a nail or screw) then the sealant tyre will plug the hole with a semi-liquid substance. This will seal the hole and the sealant tyres would have done the job. This is just another one of the ways that tyre companies are getting round the “no spare wheel” problem.

In my opinion it is a great idea and we have first hand experience of a similar product being successful in our tyre shop in Halifax Yorkshire UK.

SEALANT TYRES are nothing new?

Self sealing tyres are also manufactured by two of the big tyre companies. I covered this in the post that i have linked below. The other tyre companies are Michelin and Continental. Both these tyre companies produce similar products. I believe that Kumho will be the first of the mid-range tyre companies to make such a safety product.

More and more cars will be produced without a spare wheel. These products will be developed to help the motorist get out of trouble should they be unfortunate enough to have a puncture due to a nail or a screw. The downside of sealant tyres, in my opinion ,is that most tyres that are deflated at speed are damaged by the weight of the car and the speed of the car. No amount of sealant will help in this situation. The tyre will be damaged beyond repair.

We see this very week, customers with damaged tyres that were unable to stop their car, when a sudden deflation occurred.

Kumho Tyres – Yokohama Tyres Expand Partnership –

Kumho Tyres

Tire Review
Kumho Tyres, Yokohama Expand Partnership
Tire Review
Business Korea reports Kumho Tire and YRC have started discussing the supply of OEM parts.

This is a story that in my opinion will keep on growing?

Kumho Tyres and Yokohama are both great mid-range tyre brands. They are operating in a vastly over supplied tyre market and in my opinion something will have to give.

In all my 40 years experience in the tyre industry, i have never seen so much choice. Tyre manufacturers are falling over themselves to supply us and something has to give.

We have seen the recent acquisition of the mod-range tyre maker from Holland, Vredestein tyres by Apollo tyres and i am sure that other such deals will be taking place in the near future.

it looks like Kumho Tyres and Yokohama are taking the slow road to joining forces, and are dripping small snippets of news out to the tyre trade press.

In my opinion this will become a complete tyre manufacturing partnership in the future and one of the names will disappear.

Kumho talks tyres-Steve from R3Rockingham talks tyres

Kumho talks tyres

When it comes to avoiding crashes the single most important thing that most of us drivers forget is the black round rubber things that are actually in contact with the ground.

Kumho talks tyres-many car drivers think by buying the most expensive tyres, then they will have the best tyres?

In many cases they could be right. But other tyre companies such as Kumho tyres from South Korea, put just as much into research and development as the likes of Pirelli and Goodyear, not forgetting Michelin of course.

I have been selling Kumho brand tyres, in my tyre shop in Halifax Yorkshire now for the past ten years and i know the quality of their products just through repeat business, besides the other aspects that Kumho have proven to me over the years.

Kumho talks tyres, is exactly what it means, they are forever testing their tyre products both in competition and on tracks like the one on the picture at the Rockingham race circuit here in the UK.

The VW can be sen testing the new Kumho HS-51 tyres in wet conditions.

With the Kumho HS-51 they  have a tyre that will be fitted to most cars from medium saloons to sporty roadsters, and has a performance level that exceeds its price and position in the marketplace, well worth looking at when you look to purchase your next set of tyres.

Kumho are now becoming a huge presence in the tyre replacement market here in the UK. Other up and coming tyre companies include Apollo tyres who have originated from India and the other South Korean giants Hankook tyres.

Hankook and Kumho at the moment lead the way in the case of their motorsport involvement and it is exciting times for us in the tyre industry, that are taking part in the clime to fame of these so called mid-range tyre companies.

Kumho Tyres V8 Supercar driver Alex Rullo, 15, is the youngest winner in V8 history but is still too young to … – The Daily Telegraph

Kumho Tyres V8 Supercar

kumho tyres v8 supercar

MEET Alex Rullo – the 15-year-old V8 star that has been banned from racing in NSW because he is too young.

This Kumho tyres V8 supercar driver guy is only 15 years old?wow

These drivers are from the Go-kart stables.Hence, and more than often make it as fully blown race drivers. Naturally, in various forms of the sport.

Alex Rullo is his name. Thus, he can’t even drive legally on the roads of Australia,(probably anywhere else for that matter)kumho tyres v8 supercar

He is the youngest person ever to win a Kumho tyres V8 Supercar championship race. For this reason, I think that we may be seen a star of the future.Obviously, not that he isn’t anyway?

Kumho tyres. Along with some of the other leading mid-range tyre companies. Therefore, are becoming more and more involved with the motorsport racing scene. Consequently, they are involved from regular rallying. To the more upmarket V8 supercar championships in Australia.

Kumho tyres are also coming up trumps. Even, with the lesser known racing fraternity. These, such as the Mazda MX 5 race series. In a recent  MX-5 forum user. Nick D used the Kumho Ecsta HS51 on his Mazda.

He said that he had tested the tyres on during three laps of Rockingham’s International Super Sports Car Circuit, on the Kumho web site he is quoted to have said  “is famed for its abrasion in the dry and its less than stunning grip in the wet.” And it was a damp day… An extra challenging task for our HS51’s!

Kumho Tyres V8 Supercar

“…where the Kumho felt direct and positive, ideal for a sports car, even just driving slowly round access roads, the Toyo felt far less so.”

The Kumho Hs51 is in direct opposition to the Toyo,s used in this class of racing.  he also said“…the HS51 is really quite a good tyre, it outshone the Toyo in just about every area that matters and just that stability of braking and progression in breakaway at the limit is quite possible going to save quite a few MX-5’s from making car shaped holes in hedges.”

BMW Kumho Championship-Donnington 2015 Race 1

I qualified 6th of 12 runners in the BMW Kumho Championship-with a 1:16.7min lap, my fastest time around the circuit. I was running quite well despite knackered old tyres, until lap 4 when I got hit …

A great video to watch as the driver of this BMW, puts his car through its paces. The cars are all fitted with Kumho tyres and these are events that i love to see and visit the races where possible.

This inside camera gives you a great view as the car puts the Kumho tyres through their paces.

As i have stated on many occasions, the information that is gained through the motorsport experience goes back to making a better tyre for the regular passenger cars.

The guy in the video finished sixth out of twelve cars in the BMW Kumho Championship, held at Donnington park in the East Midlands of England in the UK.

The BARC’s , BMW Kumho Championship is open to all BMW production cars that can be bought in the UK.  The tyres that BMW Kumho Championshipare fitted to these cars are in fact known as  Street legal control tyres are supplied by Kumho tyres.

The Kumho tyres are all made from the same compound and there is only one tread pattern available to the BMW racers. The cost of the tyres  costs are kept to a minimum, to help all the competitors keep down the expense of racing.

These BMW cars are really put through their paces along with the tyre of course. At a recent meeting at the Croft race track in North Yorkshire, i was able to ask a few of the drivers what they thought of the Kumho product and i have to say that to my surprise they all agreed that they were excellent to drive on and were an excellent tyre in both wet and dry conditions.

The BMW Kumho Championship races are very exciting to watch and i would recommend a visit if the racing is in your area.

Kumho Tech Talk – Tyre Selection to suit the conditions.

Kumho tech talk videos are well worth a look at.

They show the amount of expertise that goes into making tyres for motorsport. This expertise is then passed onto the production of the regular passenger tyres that Kumho sell in their dealer network all kumho tech talkacross the UK and the rest of the world. An excellent product.

The Kumho tech talk videos are produced in Australia, where kumho Australia give a lot of support  to the motorsport scene.

The South Korean tyre company also support motorsport in many other countries, including here in the UK. In fact one of my customers in Halifax UK enters a car in the BMW touring car series. The guys name is Oliver and i last watched him race at the Croft racing circuit in North Yorkshire.

Although it was the coldest day of my life, i thoroughly enjoyed the racing and was impressed by the strength and endurance of the kumho ecsta tires, that were used in the race.

kumho tech talk
I took this picture from the last race that i visited at Croft in North Yorkshire, showing the Kumho tyre clad BMW, ready for a race.

I also went into the pits area and asked a few of the drivers what they thought of the Kumho tyres and their response was positive. I explained that i was a kumho dealer, in Halifax Yorkshire and they were very forthright and helpful with my questioning.

The touring BMW’s gave a great race in the wet conditions and i really enjoyed the event. Kumho tyres have also supported the rally scene for many years, but are sadly moving their motorsport division out of the UK to germany. A decision that many dealers in the UK are not happy about.

All my followers know about my admiration for the Kumho tyres products. This video just cements my thoughts. Similar events to this are held all over the world. Kumho are one of the top tyre companies in the motorsport world .This helps them with research and development, in their en devour to produce a better tyre for the regular passenger car.

The cars in the video are very similar to the cars that i watched in the saloon car championships, the other year at Croft in North Yorkshire UK. Motorsport events that are sponsored by tyre companies such as Kumho stretch their arms right across the world including

kumho tyres nsw
Kumho tyres take part in many racing events in the world

the KUMHO TYRES NSW events for saloon cars.

The tyres are really put to the test giving great feedback to the technicians, who will turn the data collected into making better passenger tyres for the regular cars on the roads.

As i have stated earlier i try to visit some of these track events to see for myself what the tyres have to go through in the actual racing. I must admit that i am very impressed by the efforts of all the tyre companies that i have had the pleasure to have seen.

Apart from the Kumho tyres NSW video i have witnessed the strains and stresses that these saloon cars put onto the tyres in places like Sneterton and Croft in North Yorkshire. I also try to ask the drivers what they think of the tyres that they are using. To date i have not heard one bad thing said about any of the tyres that were used. In fact on the contrary? most divers gave much praise to the tyres and the tyre companies back up crews during the race events, something that i have witnessed for myself.
