Michelin CrossClimate-driving summer tyres in winter

This Michelin CrossClimate-driving summer tyres in winter video. Coming from the German motoring magazine Auto gefuehl.

In my opinion, Michelin has been ingenious. Of course, what they have done is to turn things around. For many years now we have had an alternative to the summer tyre and the winter tyres. As expected, we know this tyre as the “all-weather” tyre.

The all-weather tyre has been on sale for years now. As a result, the phrase has become stale in the minds of drivers. Although most tyre manufacturers still make the all-weather tyre. Sales have been dropping over the years.

One of the reasons has been the significant improvement of the original winter tyres. These winter tyres are not the noisy monsters that they used to be. Winter tyres have been completely revitalised.

The addition of extra materials has brought winter tyres right up to date. Silica has been the main saviour. Therefore winter tyres are now produced for most of the vehicles on today’s market.

It looked like the death of the all-weather tyres.

In my opinion, Michelin tyres have turned things around. When winter approaches, some drivers will not spend money on winter tyres. In came Michelin tyres, they introduced a tyre that was a summer tyre that performed well in winter weather.

This was a new concept. Customers are still buying summer tyres that will help them drive in winter conditions. For this reason, in came the Michelin CrossClimate tyre. This video shows how the new style of tyre works in inclement weather.
