In Akron, Ohio, in 1870,
Dr. B F Goodrich established the first tyre plant in North America. Performance was already ingrained in the brand’s DNA even back then. This prompted Charles Cross Goodrich, Benjamin’s son, to build the nation’s first tyre research facility.
As a result, BFGoodrich started to distinguish itself from the competition as early as 1903, when it supplied the Winton Touring Car, the first vehicle to cross North America from east to west, with tyres.
BFGoodrich quickly realised that there was another way to increase mobility and decided to join the fast growing aeronautics sector.
